Kazakhstan restores wheat exports to Afghanistan “Kazakhstan intends to restore wheat exports to Afghanistan and to contribute to food security in this way,” said Maulvi Abdul Kabir, OIC director of food security and Kazakhstan’s ambassador to Afghanistan.
The head of the Islamic Food Security Organization, Erlan Bay, said during a meeting with Al-Wazra’s deputy political director that he was working to increase Kazakhstan’s wheat exports to Afghanistan, given the country’s needs. The meeting focused on cooperation in the field of food supply and other issues, among other issues. The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) has assured the senior officials that they will continue their assistance to Afghanistan and try to make effective efforts to address the ongoing humanitarian crisis here. At the same time, Pakistan has extended the deadline for the shipment of wheat to Afghanistan. Pakistan’s foreign ministry said it had initially given India three months to ship wheat and medicine to Afghanistan through Pakistan, which expired in late March. The wheat is still left, so the Indian side has been given two more months.
