The Iran embassy in Kabul has said that reports of Iranian police mistreatment of Afghan refugees are baseless and inaccurate. While the mainstream media is full of pictures and videos of the Iranian people and security forces mistreating and insulting Afghan refugees, the Iranian embassy in Kabul says it is all wrong and that the two countries are at odds. The middle is an attempt to create sedition.
The Iranian embassy in Kabul said in a statement today that videos of Iranian police using excessive force against Afghan refugees on social media were aimed at destabilizing Afghanistan-Iran relations.

The Iranian embassy says the country has hosted about 5 million Afghan refugees for the past 40 years but says it does not allow illegal immigrants to enter its territory. Iran’s refusal to harass Afghan refugees comes as Human Rights Watch recently called their behavior inhumane.
There has been a backlash at home as well. Khan Mohammad Takal, a former head of the Water Authority, also said at the outset of talks with the Iranian side on water that it was clear that the Iranian people and authorities were not committed to any religious or moral values in Afghanistan. He said he hoped Afghanistan’s neighbors would abandon their uncultured and un-Islamic policies.
