The 16th match of the Indian Commercial League or EPL was played between the Punjab Kings and the Gujarat Titans. The Gujarat Titans won the toss and elected to field the Punjab Kings first.
The Punjab Kings scored 189 runs in the allotted 20 overs with nine wickets in hand, including Liam Livingstone (64), Shakir Dhawan (35) and Jitish Sharma (23). From Gujarat, Rashid Khan bowled well, taking 3 wickets, Darshan Nalkandi 2, Mohammad Shami, Hardik Pandya and Loki Ferguson also bowled 1-1.
The Gujarat Titans completed their 190-run target in the allotted 20 overs with 4 wickets in hand and defeated Punjab by 6 wickets to win the match for the third time in a row.
For the Gujarat Titans, Schubman Gayle (96), Sai Sudarsen (45) and Hardik Pandya (27) were all out, but Rahul Tewatia (13 not out off just 3 balls) hit two sixes in the last two overs to help his side win. Kagiso Rabada and Rahul Chahar took 2 and 2 wickets respectively for Punjab.
It was the third match of the Gujarat Titans, which also claimed its third victory, becoming the second team in the table with 6 points. It was also the fourth match of the Punjab Kings, which suffered its second defeat.
Tomorrow there will be two matches in the EPL, the first between Chinese Super Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad and the second between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Mumbai Indians. The first match starts at 2:30 PM Afghanistan time and the second match starts at 6:30 PM Afghanistan time.
