The bomber struck shortly after noon in front of Kabul’s ‘Srai Shahzadah’. At least 20 people have been injured in an explosion at the ‘Srai Shahzadah Exchange in Kabul, officials say. Haji Dad Gul, deputy chairman of the money changers’ association, told the media that the blast was caused by a grenade.
He added: “The blast was aimed at creating chaos, killing nine people, but injuring 20 others, five of whom are in critical condition.”
He said the bomber struck shortly after 10 a.m. on the third floor of the memorial. He said there were women among the injured and five were in critical condition.
According to Haji Dad Gul, security officials from the Islamic Emirate’s police headquarters for Kabul have arrived in the area and an investigation is underway.
‘Srai Shahzadah’ was closed after the blast.
The Interior Ministry confirmed the incident, saying someone threw a grenade at people trying to steal money, injuring 10 people. The Interior Ministry said it had launched an investigation into the incident.
