At least 6 people have been killed and more injured after a driver rammed his car into a crowd of protesters in the Belgian city of Louvre on Sunday morning, Belgian authorities said.
“As far as the investigation is concerned, I know that six people were killed and 26 others were injured when a car crashed into a crowd. The health of the 10 injured is critical,” Dominic Warren, a loafer attorney, told reporters. ”
Mr. Warin said the two main suspects in the attack, aged 34 and 32, were now in police custody and could not say whether the motive for the attack was terrorism.
Belgian Prime Minister Alexander de Crow called the incident “horrific news” in a Twitter message. The Norwegian prime minister’s office said Mr de Crow and King Philippe of Belgium were also scheduled to visit the site late Sunday.

Belgium is witnessing a series of field festivities this season, most notably the “Bench” and “Alvast” ceremonies.
An eyewitness told Belgian state media: “I was walking and I saw a car speeding towards the people. The driver did not stop the car and hit the people.”
Jacques Gobert, mayor of Louvre, said three to seven people were at the venue at the time of the incident. He said the car was speeding on people.
A similar incident took place in Germany last month, when a man attacked his car with a car bomb, injuring dozens of people, including children.
