Mohammad Nadir Zahir, the third son of former Afghan King Mohammad Zahir Shah, has died.
Mohammad Nadir Zahir’s son Mustafa Zahir posted the news of his death on his Facebook page.
He wrote that his father would be buried in Rome, Italy. Nadir Naeem, the nephew of Mohammad Nader Zahir, also wrote, “My dear and kind uncle Mohammad Nader Zahir has passed away today in Rome, Italy.”
“Prince Nader was the third son of His Highness Mohammad Zahir Shah, the last king of Afghanistan,” he added.
It is worth mentioning that some time ago, the second daughter of the former King of Afghanistan Mohammad Zahir Shah and the mother of Nadir Naeem, “Princess Maryam Naeem” also died.
He recently lived in Kabul.
Former King Mohammad Zahir Shah of Afghanistan had a total of eight children, six of whom were sons and two daughters.
Among them were his eldest daughter, Princess Belquis, and his eldest son, Prince Muhammad Akbar Khan.
Mohammad Zahir Shah lived in Italy for decades after his ouster and never sought to regain power politically or in any other way.
None of his descendants have publicly spoken of a return to the monarchy or the royal family in Afghanistan, but Prince Maryam’s son, Mohammad Nader Naeem, was a candidate in the 2014 presidential election, followed by another candidate, Zalmai Rassoul. Withdrew his candidacy in favor.
