The Islamic Development Bank played a key role in running the fund, and Nigeria became the first country to announce a 1 million grant.
OEC leaders also called on other members of the organization and their international partners to contribute “generously” to the fund, given the humanitarian needs in Afghanistan.
The OIC foreign ministers also stressed at the meeting that Afghanistan must “quickly access its financial resources” to prevent the humanitarian situation in the country from deteriorating further.
