The Taliban’s Minister of Public Works, Mullah Abdul Manan Omari, who was involved in the rescue operation, said the government was urging the owners and owners of the deep wells to take all necessary steps to ensure their safety.
Speaking to the media, Mr. Omari said that deep wells are common in agricultural lands and they have already instructed all the people who have dug deep wells in agricultural lands to cover the heads of the wells.

A local journalist in Zabul told the BBC that six-year-old Haider did not breathe when he was pulled out of the well.
Rescuers dug a hole in the side of the well where the baby was being held, and were expected to be airlifted to the capital, Kabul, for treatment as soon as possible.
Zabul police spokesman Zabihullah Johar told AFP:
