Local Taliban officials in Nimroz province have reportedly arrested a man accused of smuggling $ 600,000 from Afghanistan to Iran at the border.
Mohammad Hashem Hanzaleh, the Taliban’s border commander in Nimroz, told the media that he had been arrested on Monday, the 23rd of Houth on the Iranian border.
According to him, the detainee is named Seyed Momen and is a resident of Zaranj, Nimroz province.
The Taliban border commander said the man was arrested from the Pul-e-Barshim checkpoint.
It is said that this person had transferred $ 600,000 in ten packages of $ 600,000 and intended to transfer it from Nimroz to Iran.
Mr. Hanzaleh said that it was not yet clear for what purpose the detainee intended to smuggle this large amount of dollars to Iran.
