Pakistani military claims to have killed a militant as it entered a security checkpoint in the Dosali area of North Waziristan, bordering Afghanistan, on Monday (February 14th).
Also, in Balochistan province, a terrorist commander was killed and two others were arrested. According to state media, Hidayat Balach was killed in an operation in Pasni area and Niaz and Mohammad Jan were arrested in Khuzdar.
The army said in a statement on February 14 that a suicide bomber had tried to enter an army checkpoint in the Dosli area of North Waziristan but had been repulsed by security forces at the checkpoint.
Before arrested, He opened fire on security forces at the checkpoint and then hurled a grenade.
The military says security forces shot dead a terrorist and seized a large quantity of weapons and ammunition. But the military statement did not say what group the man belonged to.
The military said in a statement that he had been actively involved in terrorist attacks against security forces.
Dosli is a southwestern region about 30 kilometers from Miranshah, the capital of North Waziristan, which was cleared of militants during the 2014 Zarb-e-Azb military operation.
The Pakistani military also claimed on February 9 that it had killed a terrorist in Shiva Tehsil in North Waziristan.
A day earlier, six FC soldiers were injured in a roadside bomb blast in the same area, and a child was reported injured in the ensuing shootout.
The Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) claimed responsibility for the attack.
On February 6, the Pakistani military said a cross-border terrorist attack in the Karama tribal district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa near the Afghan border had killed five security personnel.
The Pakistani Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack.
A day earlier, on February 5, the Pakistani military claimed to have killed two militants in the Datta Khel area of North Waziristan and seized a large quantity of weapons from their possession.
Unrest in North Waziristan and other tribal districts has escalated since the Taliban took control of Afghanistan.
Following the recent deadly attacks on security forces in Balochistan and the tribal areas, on February 8, Pakistan’s army chief General Bajwa announced that the army would expel terrorists, their collaborators and allies from the country.
Last week, there were deadly attacks on security forces in the Noshki and Panjgur areas of Balochistan, in which the army confirmed the deaths of nine soldiers.
The Balochistan Liberation Army, a Baloch separatist group responsible for the attacks, has claimed responsibility for the attacks, which killed 195 soldiers.
