US Special Representative for Afghanistan: Our meeting with the Taliban delegation was fruitful
Tom West, the US special envoy to Afghanistan, described the Turkish diplomacy meeting in Antalya as “useful” and said he had talked to the Taliban delegation about Afghanistan’s economic growth and stability, education and air travel.
In his tweets, Mr. West welcomed the opening of state universities for boys and girls, but stressed that more needs to be done to protect the human rights of the people, protect their achievements and involve the government. The Twitter message adds in this series:
“Together with our colleagues, we had a fruitful time with the Taliban delegation, discussing important issues for Afghans, including economic stability and growth, education and commercial air travel.”
The Taliban’s foreign affairs minister, Mullah Amir Khan Mottaki, has already met with Tom West and Qatari foreign minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman al-Thani on the sidelines of the Antalya summit.
The Taliban’s foreign minister told reporters on the sidelines of the meeting:
“The current Islamic government has met all the conditions that must be recognized, the property of Afghans must be liberated, and Afghans must be treated in the same way that they are treated in the world. ”
The Taliban’s foreign ministry said in a statement that Mr Mottaki, who was in Turkey to attend the meeting, had a trilateral meeting with Mr West and Mr Al Thani.
The Taliban’s foreign ministry said in a statement that its side had told the meeting that “recognition of the new Afghan government and the release of property is a legitimate right of Afghans and at the same time promotes political relations and the economy.” ”
Thomas, the US special envoy, said he had had fruitful talks with the Taliban delegation, discussing key issues for Afghans, economic stability, education and commercial air travel.
He wrote on Twitter that more work remains to be done to protect human rights achievements in Afghanistan and to reflect Afghan society in governance.
He welcomed the opening of universities in Afghanistan, especially for women, calling it an important step and hoped that enrollment would increase and the environment would be positive and safe for all.

Taliban Foreign Minister Amir Khan Mottaki also told the media in Antalya that the current Islamic government in Afghanistan has met all the conditions that must be recognized. The world is made up of human beings. ”
He said that now is the time for Afghanistan to have strong ties with the world in terms of diplomacy and diplomatic relations.
Earlier, Zabihullah Mujahid, deputy minister of information and culture in the Taliban’s caretaker government, told the BBC that the meeting was useful for strengthening Afghanistan’s diplomatic ties with the world.
“The expectation from this meeting is that there will be a lot of progress in the world relations with Afghanistan,” he said. Representatives of the Islamic Emirate will convey the message of the Islamic Emirate to the participating countries. This meeting is very important for strengthening relations. ”
