Amir Khan Mottaki, the Taliban’s foreign minister in Afghanistan, met with Tom West, the US special envoy to Afghanistan, and Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman al-Thani, Qatar’s foreign minister, in Turkey.
A three-day international meeting of the Antalya Diplomacy Forum is scheduled to kick off in Turkey on March 11, with participants sharing views on important international issues as well as Afghanistan. The Taliban’s foreign ministry said in a statement that Mr. Mottaki, who was in Turkey to attend the meeting, had a trilateral meeting with Mr. West and Mr. Al Thani.
The Taliban’s foreign ministry said in a statement that its side had told the meeting that “recognition of the new Afghan government and the release of property is a legitimate right of Afghans and at the same time promotes political relations and the economy.”

Thomas, the US special envoy, said he had had fruitful talks with the Taliban delegation, discussing key issues for Afghans, economic stability, education, and commercial air travel.
He wrote on Twitter that more work remains to be done to protect human rights achievements in Afghanistan and to reflect Afghan society in governance.
He welcomed the opening of universities in Afghanistan, especially for women, calling it an important step, and hoped that enrollment would increase and the environment would be positive and safe for all.

Earlier, Zabihullah Mujahid, deputy minister of information and culture in the Taliban’s caretaker government, told the BBC that the meeting was useful for strengthening Afghanistan’s diplomatic ties with the world.
“The expectation from this meeting is that there will be a lot of progress in the world relations with Afghanistan,” he said. Representatives of the Islamic Emirate will convey the message of the Islamic Emirate to the participating countries. This meeting is very important for strengthening relations. ”
