Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelinsky said on Friday, February 25, that his country has left alone in the face of a widespread Kremlin military strike.
Mr Zelensky’s remarks came a day after Russia launched a major military offensive against Ukraine early Thursday morning.
“We are left alone to defend our country,” he said in a televised speech early Friday morning.
He added: “Who is ready to fight alongside us? I don’t see anyone. Who is ready to guarantee Ukraine NATO membership? Everyone is scared.”
A total of 137 Ukrainian military and civilian civilians have been killed and 316 others wounded in the Russian military offensive since Thursday morning, the AFP news agency reported.
The Ukrainian president also added that Russian “evil groups” had entered the capital, Kiev, urging city residents to be vigilant and observe curfews.
President Zelenovsky said that despite Russia’s number one goal, he and his family are in Ukraine.
“They want to destroy Ukraine by removing the president,” Zelinsky said.
