NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg said at the same time that Russia had not seen any reduction in the deployment of troops and that “Russia is still increasing the number of troops on the border.”
NATO defense ministers are meeting today at the alliance’s headquarters to discuss the threat posed by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
The meeting may also call for the deployment of more troops to bolster the defensive position on NATO’s eastern borders.
NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg has cautiously expressed hope for a diplomatic solution to the Ukraine crisis.
He reiterated President Biden’s remarks, saying Russia had not shown any signs of withdrawing troops.
Meanwhile, Ukrainians are celebrating National Unity Day today, as US officials said yesterday that Russia might launch a military invasion of Ukraine today.
