UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has said the United Nations is working with the US Treasury Department and Afghanistan’s central bank to address the country’s cash crunch.
He made the remarks at a news conference in Moscow during his visit to Russia. Guterres said the cash crunch was having a negative impact on Afghanistan’s economy and that the United Nations was urging the international community to increase its aid to Afghanistan.
It is noteworthy that a number of UN experts have recently said that the freezing of Afghanistan’s financial resources by the United States has caused economic problems in the country and millions of people are suffering.
