At least five persons including three children were killed in airstrikes by Pakistani aircrafts in the Sheltan district of Afghanistan’s eastern Kunar province, residents said Saturday.
The residents of Sheltan district told Afghan Islamic Press (AIP) that the Pakistani aircrafts cross into Afghanistan last night and pounded a house in Sheltan district, killing two women, three children and wounding a man.
According to the local residents, the airstrike was conducted in Chogam area which is closed to Durand Line.
Maulvi Najeebullah Hanif, director information and culture in Kunar province, told AIP that the Pakistani security forces have been shelling the Narai and Sheltan districts fror the last three days.
He said a shell landed in a house in Sheltan district last night, killing two women, three children and wounding a man.
He, however, was short of further details.
Sources in Kunar told Afghan Islamic Press (AIP) that the house which was targeted owned one, Shahid, and there were reports that the hose was hosting a senior TTP commander who was recently appointed as governor.
Though the source did not disclose the name of the senior commander, the TTP recently appointed Abu Omar Dirvi as governor for Malakand region.
The residents of Narai district said 30 cannon shells landed in the district, killing a cow but did not cause an loss of life to people.
When contacted, deputy spokesman of Taliban Bilal Karimi said they are collecting information in this regard.
