The Economic Commission of India (ECI) has approved a contract for the exploration and extraction of iron ore in Ghorian district of Herat province and Tulk district of Ghor province. The meeting, chaired by Deputy Minister for Economic Affairs Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, was attended by a number of officials, including the ministers of mines and petroleum, economy and trade. The meeting recommended to the concerned ministries and agencies to address the problems of manufacturing factories and companies in a timely manner and provide serious assistance in resolving them. The Ministry of Mines and Petroleum has also been instructed to outsource the country’s salt mines to local salt production and refining companies.
Meanwhile, Mufti Abdul Hamid Akhundzada, director of mines in Nangarhar, met with a number of geologists to discuss the prospects of mining and promised to provide them with job opportunities. He sought the cooperation of geologists, who assured them of their sincere cooperation.
