The United Kingdom announced the equivalent of 37 374 million, or 286 million, in aid to provide food to Afghans a day before the UN-sponsored International Funding for Afghanistan summit.
The organizers of the summit hope that donor countries will pledge 4.4 billion in aid to Afghanistan.
UN spokesman Jens Lairc said yesterday that the aid would be delivered to needy families in Afghanistan through aid agencies.
It is to be noted that many European and Asian countries have already provided various food and non-food items to Afghanistan.
