The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) plans to host the Indian Women’s Twenty20 Cricket Tournament (IPL) next year. Officials said that the process related to the women’s IPL has started.
“It has to be approved at the annual general meeting,” Suraf Ganguly, head of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), told reporters. “We are very much looking forward to starting next year,” Ganguly said.
IPL President Brijesh Patel said that the process of women’s IPL competition has started and five or six teams will participate in the tournament. The move comes as the Indian men’s IPL tournament kicks off on Saturday, March 26. The Chinese Super Kings will take on the Kolkata Knight Riders in the first match of this year’s league. The match is being played in Mumbai.
The Indian IPL is the most popular commercial cricket league. A five-year contract worth 2 2.55 billion was signed to broadcast the league on television until 2022.
The next five-year contract is said to have been negotiated on Friday. A senior Indian cricket official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the deal would be worth around ۴ 2 billion this time around. Prior to the outbreak of the Corona epidemic, the IPL was estimated to generate more than 11 11 billion a year for the Indian economy.
