Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi has arrived in Kabul on an unannounced visit. This is the first visit to Afghanistan by a senior Chinese official since the Taliban took power.
Mr Yee’s visit to Kabul comes a week after a meeting of Afghanistan’s neighbors hosted by China.
Taliban Deputy Spokesman Bilal Karimi said he had met with Taliban Foreign Minister Amir Khan Mottaki.

A Taliban official said the Chinese foreign minister was “coming to Afghanistan for talks with officials from the Islamic Emirate.” ”
He had earlier attended the 48th OIC Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in Islamabad, Pakistan.
China shares a 76-kilometer border with Afghanistan and appears to be keen to increase its influence in the country following the presence of Westerners.
China is also concerned that the presence of an Islamist government in its neighborhood could lead to more problems in dealing with the country’s Uighur minority.
