Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Friday inaugurated a large suspension bridge connecting Dardanelle that connects Asia with Europe.
It is one of the largest infrastructure projects in Turkey that Mr. Erdogan has implemented in the last 20 years.
The Chanakala Bridge connects Asia with Europe by sea. The bridge was built by Turkish and South Korean companies at a cost of 2. 2.8 billion.
The two bridges are so far apart that they are unparalleled in the world.
Such major projects have been crucial to Mr Erdogan’s achievements since 2020, when Erdogan’s Justice and Development Party came to power.
Major projects include the construction of an Istanbul airport, a railway and some underground tunnels.
Mr Erdogan said at the inauguration of the bridge that “the benefits of such actions will go to the government for years to come”.
He added that such projects could make the country a leader in investment.
