The female staff of the Afghan embassy in Turkey has been barred from attending the meeting by Taliban acting foreign minister Amir Khan Mottaki.
An informed source at the Afghan embassy in Turkey, who did not want to be named because of the sensitivity of the issue, told RFE / RL that Amir Khan Mottaki had been summoned by the Afghan ambassador to Turkey under pressure from the Turkish government.
A meeting of the Taliban delegation led by Amir Khan Mottaki at the Afghan embassy in the Turkish capital Ankara on Tuesday drew widespread reactions from Afghans in the media.
Sources confirmed and added that “before the Taliban delegation entered the embassy, the ambassador had asked Nahya not to allow any female staff inside the embassy, so before the arrival of the Taliban delegation, all female employees The embassy has been evacuated. ”
According to the source, although the female staff had boycotted the meeting and Nahya wanted to attend, they were asked to leave the embassy even from their offices.
The source said that despite strong reactions from the embassy staff to the invitation of the Taliban leaders, Amir Mohammad Ramin, Afghanistan’s ambassador to Turkey, said that he was under pressure from the Turkish government and should have summoned Amir Khan Mottaki to the embassy.
According to the source, Amir Khan Mottaki urged all employees to continue their duties, after which the Afghan embassy in Turkey will continue its activities based on their policies and guidelines.
However, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs – Afghanistan retweeted a tweet after a meeting with the Afghan embassy in Turkey on Tuesday: We had a joint meeting with Afghans and students. ”

The source himself boycotted the Taliban meeting yesterday, saying that from now on, the Afghan ambassador, Amir Mohammad Ramin, and the entire organization would be under the direction and command of the Taliban.
According to the source, most of the staff and diplomats at the embassy had boycotted the meeting and others were not interested in continuing their work at the embassy.
But Nasir Ahmad Karimi, a member of the Taliban’s foreign ministry’s media office, denied in a written statement to the midia, that the embassy had expelled the women.
He did not give further details.
Another issue that has attracted a lot of attention is the presence of Afghanistan’s three-colored national flag alongside Amir Khan Mottaki.
The source added that the Taliban did not respond to a request for comment.
This is the fourth embassy visited by the Taliban after Pakistan, Iran and Qatar.
