The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Afghanistan has expressed concern that the country’s humanitarian needs have increased by 30 percent.
The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) wrote on its Twitter page on Tuesday, February 22 that 4.24 million people across Afghanistan are currently in need of humanitarian assistance.
Following the Taliban’s return to power in Afghanistan, the international community’s support for the previous government has stalled, and billions of dollars of Afghan capital have been diverted from the Taliban, especially to foreign banks. The United States is frozen in federal banks.
According to UN figures, half of Afghanistan’s population is facing a severe economic crisis and one million children are at risk of severe malnutrition.
Earlier, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) had expressed concern over the escalating humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan and said that governments should work with Afghanistan to improve the situation in the country.
