The Minister of Information and Culture of Afghanistan Abdul Bari Jahani submitted his resignation to President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani.
In an online statement posted through his official Facebook account, Minister Jahani said he can not continue to serve as the Information and Culture Minister due to the illness he is suffering from.
Haroon Hakimi, a spokesman for the Afghan Ministry of Information and Culture (MoIC) confirmed to that Abdul Bari Jahani has resigned from his post as minister of information and culture.
Hakimi said that Jahani submitted his resignation letter to the president late October. He said Hakimi had resigned for health reasons.
The Presidential Palace (ARG) conformed Jahani’s resignation.
Jahani thanked President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani for his trust and urged him to approve his resignation.
Jahani further added that he was forced to inform regarding his resignation through social media after he waited for almost two weeks to receive a response from President Ghani.
Jahani was picked for the post by the government earlier in April this year and was approved by the Afghan parliament in mid-April
