“A boy in the castle”

A shortest fiction from Pashto literature

It is a palace, a beautiful castle and a big one. a boy is standing here. He is very happy and in high spirits. Really the boy was very desirous to enter here. When he was entering the place of dream, there was no one outside of this good-looking building, even a watchman. The gate of this magnificent building was closed. From many days, the boy was just trying to open the gate and he was pushing it time by time. Finally today he got success and the gate open by itself.

The palace is like Heaven, full of trees, greenery and beautiful and colorful flowers. The boy has the problem and he thinks it is not tolerable, he is unhappy with his mother and father, because they are very rigid and tough towards him and they beat him on his each mischief. The boy has the complaint against them that why they have no soft corner in their hearts for him. although he is their only and single child.

Now the boy moves forward because there is no one in the palace, because it was in his mind that he will meet here with the beautiful fairy queen and lovely human beings.

Now he forgets it and enjoys the pleasant and lovely gardens of the empty building. At this moment, he believes that he will survive in this heaven forever. Now he talks with himself that his family is very bad due to its harsh and unkind behavior. All of a sudden he listens the barking of a dog. Now he observes a black dog is standing right in front of him. At spur of the moment, the black animal tries to attack on him. This situation confuses the boy. Now he runs abruptly to save himself and the unhappy dog follows him. At this moment, the boy feels that he is very energetic and fast from the chasing dog and this feeling makes him happy.

Now the boy cries loudly, then he sees towards his backside, because in spite of dog, a yellow tiger and a snake are also chasing him. Though the boy is very fast from these three dangerous creatures but he feels unhappiness as well that how he will be in this world, in his whole life in the presence of these monsters. Abruptly the speed of the dangerous creature increases and prior to this they take his life and murder him, he gets success to come out of the castle.

At the moment, abruptly and quickly the open gate of the palace starts to close; now the boy cries loudly.

“Mama, papa, my dearest, where you are?”
