The Afghanistan cricket team arrived in Dhaka on Saturday morning for their one-off Test match against Bangladesh, which is set to begin on June 14 at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur.
The team traveled to Bangladesh in two separate groups. The first group arrived around 11:00 am local time, while the second batch was expected to reach Dhaka at approximately 5:00 pm on Saturday.
Last week, the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) announced the squad for the tour to Bangladesh. To strengthen the team, three fast bowlers were added to the 15-man squad: Ibrahim Abdulrahimzai, Nijat Masoud, and Izharulhaq Naweed.
Karim Janat, a talented medium-pace bowler with all-around skills, earned a place in the team based on his outstanding performance in the Ahmad Shah Abdali First Class Tournament, where he was named the tournament’s best player.
Unfortunately, Rashid Khan, a renowned spinner, will miss the tour due to a recent lower-back injury.
Following the solitary Test match, the Afghanistan team will travel to India for a series before returning home after the Eid-ul-Adha holiday. They will then play three One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and two Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is) against Bangladesh the following month.
In the second phase of the series, all three ODIs will be held at Chattogram’s Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium. The first ODI is scheduled for July 5, followed by the second and third ODIs on July 8 and 11, respectively.
The T20I series will commence on July 14, with the first game taking place, and the final match will be held on July 16 at the Sylhet International Stadium.
