The Central Committee of the Ruwit-e-Hilal of Pakistan has announced that the month of Shawwal or Eid-ul-Fitr has not been observed across the country and today will be Ramadan. The first day of Eid al-Adha will be on Tuesday or May 3.
According to Pakistani media reports, the Rohit Hilal Committee had convened a committee to observe the month of Shawwal all over Pakistan today, but the month of Shawwal was not observed. On the other hand, in some cities of Pakhtunkhwa, evidence has been received about the monthly visit.
Mufti Popalzai, the Khatib of the Qasim Ali Khan Mosque in Peshawar, reiterated that they had received evidence of a visit to the month of Shawwal and after examining it, they would declare Eid al-Fitr tomorrow, Monday, May 2.
Apart from Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka have not observed the month of Shawwal today and in all these countries the Eid-ul-Fitr will be on Tuesday or the 3rd of May.
It is to be noted that the month of Shawwal was observed in Afghanistan yesterday and today was the first day of Eid-ul-Fitr. It was also Eid-ul-Fitr in Waziristan today.
Tomorrow, Monday, May 2, will be the first day of Eid al-Fitr in Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Turkey, and other countries.
