Eight billion dollars is needed to start economic growth in Afghanistan. SIGAR, or the US Special Envoy for Afghanistan Reconstruction, has said in a recent statement that Afghanistan is facing serious problems and a difficult economic situation.
According to the source, the country is facing a huge budget deficit as well as a shortage of cash. SIGAR says 2 billion is needed to save lives and support them, but 8 billion is needed if the country is to recover.
SIGAR says Afghanistan has for years been dependent on international aid for its spending, but the fact that this aid has now been canceled has created widespread problems for Afghans.
