Security officials in Nangarhar say a house-to-house search operation in the province ended with the collection of 445 miles of light and heavy weapons. They added that over the course of a week, several other military equipments and government armored vehicles were seized and one person was released from captivity. The Interior Ministry also announced the end of the operation in a statement. The ministry said on its Twitter page that female members of the security forces had been involved in the operation to search people’s homes and had carried out the operation in accordance with the rules. Residents of Nangarhar welcomed the operation and called for it to be extended to other districts. Local officials in Nangarhar had promised on the first day of the operation that they would extend the operation to other districts after clearing the city, but Taza did not say anything to the districts about extending the operation.
