The Ministry of Finance says that the Islamic Emirate will fund the Qushtepa Canal budget in every possible way and hopes that with the completion of the first phase and the receipt of revenue, the remaining work of the project will be completed.
The Ministry of Finance has set a budget of 16 billion afghanis for the construction of the first phase of the Qushtepa Canal.
It may be recalled that last Tuesday, First Deputy Chief Minister Mullah Abdul Ghani Biradar visited Balkh province to inaugurate the Qushtepi Canal.
There he met with the Governor of Balkh Province of the Islamic Emirate, Maulvi Qudratullah Abu Hamza, and a number of other officials.
The canal will be 285 km long, 100 m wide and 8.5 m deep. It will have the capacity to irrigate 550 hectares of land and carry 650 cubic meters of water per second.
It should not be forgotten that a number of other senior officials of the Islamic Emirate had also traveled to Balkh to inaugurate the project.
