Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi will chair a meeting of foreign ministers of neighboring countries on Afghanistan in the Tunxi region, according to the Chinese Foreign Ministry. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Emirate said that after arriving in China, Mr. Mottaki attended a trilateral meeting with the Foreign Ministers of the host country and Pakistan. The meeting will focus on regional issues.
Abdul Qahar Balkhi, the Spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, wrote on his Twitter account that “a meeting between the Foreign Ministers of Afghanistan, China, and Pakistan on regional issues has begun.”

From now on, Wang Yi will also host a meeting of “Afghanistan’s neighbors plus Afghanistan,” the ministry said in a statement.
The Foreign Minister of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan Amir Khan Mottaki will be invited to attend the meeting and the Foreign Ministers of Qatar and Indonesia will also attend the meeting as guests, the statement said. Another daughter, Afghan state news agency BNA, reported that Taliban foreign minister Amir Khan Mottaki has arrived in China in this regard.
According to BNA, Mr. Mottaki has been formally invited and is scheduled to hold talks with the foreign ministers of the region on political, economic, and other issues. ”
The foreign ministers of Pakistan, Iran, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan are expected to attend the meeting.
Ahead of today’s meeting, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi arrived in Kabul on an unannounced visit last week to meet with senior representatives of the Islamic Emirate.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and his Pakistani counterpart Shah Mehmood Qureshi have already arrived in China to attend the summit. Earlier, a meeting of Afghanistan’s foreign ministers was held in Tehran in October last year.
