The Swedish Committee for Afghanistan says it has trained more than 1,000 teachers since November, when schools in the cold regions were closed.
“Around 12,000 teachers, about 35% of whom are women, have been enrolled in various programs and their capacities have been enhanced,” Mohammad Tahir Ismat, head of SCA’s education program, told RFE / RL.
The Swedish Committee in Afghanistan says it provides books, stationery and teachers’ salaries to 100,000 children in Afghanistan.
The committee is responsible for financing the construction of 5 to 10 school buildings in different provinces each year.
