Clashes broke out between the Taliban and Pakistani border guards at the gate between Spin Boldak and Chaman in Kandahar on the Durand Line.
Sources close to Boldak told the BBC that the clashes started at around 12 local time and continued till noon.
Three civilians have been killed and 23 others injured in the clashes.
Sardar Mohammad Khundai, a local journalist in Chaman, told the BBC that the district’s governor, Juma Dad Mandokhel, had told him to recommend readiness to Chaman’s hospitals.
Mr Khundi said clashes between Pakistani forces and the Taliban on the border between Chaman and Spin Boldak had now spread to other areas.
He said the clashes were initially around the old village and the green lake, but now spread to Ada Kahala, Luqman village, village Mazal and surrounding areas.
He added that heavy and light weapons were used in the clashes.
The clashes reportedly erupted after Pakistani border guards beat up a group of Afghan children crossing the Durand Line.
Recently, there have been increasing reports of misconduct by Pakistani forces towards passengers and traders at the Spin Boldak-Chaman border crossing.
