President Joe Biden is expected to ask the US Congress for more than 770 billion in defense funding.
The defense budget is for fiscal year 2023, which begins on October 1, and the Pentagon wants to modernize the military.
Three sources familiar with the matter told Reuters news agency that Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin and the White House Office of Management and Budget (OMB) had agreed on what was beyond Congress. 770 Billions requested for defense budget.
A source said the final level of the defense budget may change before the demand.
Two other sources said that the defense ministry may be given a budget of 773 billion, in addition to meeting other requirements, which could increase the defense budget to 800 billion.
The budget includes MoD staff salaries, spending on tanks, F-35, MoD nuclear program and other defense matters.
A source who declined to be named told Reuters news agency that last week the White House had cited a number in response to the Pentagon’s request for a budget that did not differ significantly from the one requested by the Secretary of Defense.
A source said the 2023-year defense budget may also be increased later.
