Senegal Rewards cash and land to footballers to win Africa Cup of Nations

Senegalese President Macky Sall has rewarded players of the country’s national football team with cash and land prizes for winning the Africa Cup of Nations.

A special ceremony was held at the Presidential Palace to honor the players.

At the ceremony, the president announce $87,000 for each member of the national football team and a plot of land in the capital, Dakar, and another nearby city.

“There is no point in saying how proud we are, how happy we are and how grateful we are to you,” Mr.Sall said at the ceremony.

“You have changed the history of the country with your initiative and your vital force,” said the president, who was stand next to trophy.

Senegal’s president has called on national football team coach Alio Casey to lead team to the semi-finals of the World Cup 2022 in Qatar.

“We dreamed of this cup. You made our dream come true,” said President Sall.

Senegal’s national football team defeated Egypt 4-2 in the African Cup of Nations in Cameroon on Sunday.

It was the first time in more than 50 years that Senegal had won a major victory in a football tournament.
