Zuhra Husaini 19 and Marzia Ahmadi 16 residents of Lailor village in Yakawlang district of Bamiyan, enjoy celebration of Lailor school and Legan Resource Center opening ceremony conducted on November 18, 2019.
“It was hard for me to go to Zareen School for two hours, as the weather is being very hot in summer and is cold and dry in fall, it is hard for anybody to walk two hour going to school and coming back home, so this is really a time to celebrate our new school building in our village”.
The school building construction work exactly started on May 17, 2018 and ended in November 2019. The school building consists of 8 classrooms, two principle rooms, two stores, two sets of toilets, and a surrounding wall of almost 300m2. Four villages (Lailor Sufla, Lailor Ulia, Qlandaran and Taba Khana) will benefit from this project. Moreover, 400 students will be studying in two shifts on daily bases in the newly inaugurated school. Also, Legan Recsorce Center is also being built by SCA that has one meeting room, one computer room, a store and a Laboratory room.
“I had to walk for one and half hour all three hour walking going to school and coming back to home, it was really hard in summer and also in fall for me too, as I was going to Nayik School located in Yakawlang district bazar, it is time to thanks SCA and especially from Erickson Family for building and funding this school project and making it easy for girls to continue education in Lailor village School.”

On the occasion of opening ceremony of Lailor School building and Legan Resource Center, Mr. Shafiullah Sharifi, Head of Wardak Regional Management Office (WRMO)-SCA, spoke about SCA Vision, Mission and Values and presented information regarding SCA/WRMO activities to the audience, Mr. Sharifi Said: “I am really glad that we have a chance to participate in inauguration of such an important project, as this project make the base of our society development. Let me briefly say that for more than 36 years SCA work in Afghanistan and currently SCA work in 14 provinces implement four projects such as Health, Education, Rural Development and Disability Program. Wardak Regional Management Office (WRMO) cover Wardak and Bamiyan provinces and implement three major programs; Health, Education, Rural Development”.
Mohammad Tahir Zohair, the governor of Bamyan province also spoke to the audience, Mr. Zohair said: “I really thank SCA for its wonderful work in Bamiyan. In the last few years I am one of the witnesses of several construction and essential projects completions by SCA, I really thanks everyone involved in Lailor School building and Legan Resource Center projects.”
