Forty people have been confirmed dead and 30 are wounded after a suicide bomb attack in Kabul.

Close to 84 people have been injured, spokesman for Public Health Ministry of Afghanistan told media.

The IS-linked Aamaq news agency said three bombs were used in the ferocious assault as well as a single suicide bomber who blew himself up inside the center, where scores of people had gathered to mark the 1979 invasion of Afghanistan by the former Soviet Union.

President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani has ordered the relevant government officials to launch an immediate probe into the deadly Kabul attack that left at least 41 people dead.

The Office of the President, ARG Palace, in a statement said the relevant authorities have been instructed to launch a probe in a bid to find the circumstances surrounding the incident and help the victims of the incident.

President Ghani condemned the attack in the strongest words as he offered his condolences to the families of those killed in the attack, the statement said.
