Singapore slipped to defeat again at the hands of Afghanistan after losing 2-1 in a friendly at Saoud Bin Abdulrahman Stadium on Thursday.
The Lions were beaten by the same scoreline in a World Cup qualifier against the Afghans last year, and they were undone on this occasion by goals from Sharid Mukhammad and Mustafa Azadzoy.
Shawal Anuar briefly restored parity for the hosts, but their winless run stretched to four games after they ended 2016 with a draw and two defeats in succession.
Lions of Khurasan got off to a flying start in Qatar when Mukhammad opened the scoring in the fifth minute with a shot from just outside the area.
Neither team managed to create any clear-cut chances after the early goal, and the visitors went into the break with a 1-0 lead.
However, they were pegged back quickly in the second half as Anuar found the equaliser a minute after the restart with a clinical finish.
Afghanistan looked to respond and went close to going back in front on 50 minutes when Omid Popalzay forced a fine save out of the on-rushing Hassan Sunny.
They would get on the scoresheet again just seven minutes later, though, with Mustafa Azadzoy slotting home after being played in on goal by Kanischka Taher.
Singapore attempted to get back into the game again, but Khairul Nizam and Safuwan Baharudin both failed to hit the target with their respective headers.
