Iran is ready to share its experiences in urban developments with Afghanistan, says Abbas Akhundi Iran’s Minister of Road and Urban Development.
By organizing training courses, the Islamic Republic can share its experiences in urban developments with Afghan experts, Akhundi told Minister of Urban Development of Afghanistan Seyed Sa’adat Mansur Naderi on Wednesday, on the sidelines of the United Nations Conference on Housing and Sustainable Urban Development (Habitat III) in Ecuadorian capital Quito.
Akhundi then referred to Iran’s experiences in the fields of urban planning, devising the national building code, establishment of new towns and financing housing projects, and said that Iran is ready to enhance cooperation with Afghanistan in the area of housing and urban developments.
The Afghan minister, on his part, expressed his country’s interest to boost cooperation in this field with Iran.
Mansur Naderi said that there is high potential for Iran and Afghanistan to expand their cooperation.
The two neighboring nations should exploit the high potential for furthering cooperation, he said.
He also called on Iranian companies to feel free to bid to participate in urban projects and construction in Afghanistan.
Akhundi expressed hope to visit Afghanistan soon to consider the issue of establishing a railway connection between Iran and the Afghan city of Herat and collaboration in the field of urban developments.
