Former Pakistan cricketer Aqib Javed has termed Pakistan’s conduct in the Under-19 League as futile and a waste of time.
“There is no point in playing junior or youth league. We have to play long-term cricket. We have to build a system like Australia’s. We have to adapt their system. Making only six teams is not an Australian system,” said Javed.
He adds that Australia’s best system is two-day cricket for young players, there is no logic in creating a youth league, and it would be better if a women’s league was formed instead.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced the launch date of a special youth league. The report says that financial backers and partners have shown interest in the league.
The league, which will be the first of its kind, will be played between six teams, starting on October 5 this year, and will feature a total of 19 matches.
Players for the Pakistan Junior League will be selected by draft, for each team there will be one international character as the coach, meaning the coach will be the one who has played at the international level.
