The Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) is staging the protest as opposition parties have filed a no-confidence motion against Imran Khan in the National Assembly Secretariat and may present it in the National Assembly today (March 25) It will be voted on in the National Assembly.
In a country where political efforts are on the rise, Imran Khan has announced a meeting in Islamabad on March 27. PTI Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry claims that more than 100,000 people will attend the meeting.
Maulana Fazlur Rehman, leader of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM), had on March 23 announced a protest against the central government of the Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) but postponed it due to a parade in Islamabad on the occasion of “Pakistan Day”. The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) is marching from Lahore to Islamabad on March 26.
Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid told a news conference in Islamabad that voting was a religious right of members and that no one would stop voting in a no-confidence motion.
Since its formation, the PDM has repeatedly accused the 2018 general elections of being rigged and the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government has come to power through fraud and the military is behind it.
But Maj. Gen. Babar Iftikhar, head of the army’s public relations department, has repeatedly said that the army is not involved in politics, and PTI government ministers have repeatedly said that the opposition parties have joined forces to cover up their fraud. He is facing opposition inside and outside parliament, and the government will complete its five-year term.
