Day after the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan announced the establishment of a commission that aims to invite Afghan figures in exile, the former Afghan president Hamid Karzai and EU ambassador to Afghanistan Andreas von Brandt welcomed the move.
Hamid Karzai express hope that the establishment of the commission will lead to lasting peace and stability in Afghanistan adding that the newly established commission will give all Afghans the opportunity to take part in all national decisions.
In the meantime, EU ambassador to Afghanistan Andrea von Brandt on a Twitter post said that the move is part of a broader approach towards the legitimacy of a future government.
“Welcome move, it true + part of a broader approach towards more legitimacy of a future government and inclusion of all segments of Afghan society.” Reads the Tweet.
Foreign Minister of the former Afghan government Hanif Atmar has also welcomed the move adding that the step is positive if the invitation of Afghan politicians and civil activists aims at building national consensus for an all-accepted government and lasting peace.
The interim government of the Taliban has recently expedited its efforts for inviting Afghan experts and figures in exile and has asked them to return so that they take part in advancing Afghanistan.
