However, the current situation of Afghan youth is challenging and requires attention from the government and society as a whole. Afghanistan’s youth population constitutes a significant proportion of its citizens. the prevailing challenges that are Economic instability, lack of Job opportunities and limited access to quality education. They are main obstacles for the development and empowerment of its youth. It is needed to take steps for empowering Afghan youths for a brighter future.
The youth of Afghanistan play a critical role in the country’s development. they can have main roles in social, political, economic and cultural spheres, such as media education, technology, human rights, environmental protection and others. Afghan youths must be encouraged to involve themselves through good policies, and they need to be trained in involvement of citied fields because they will have the responsibilities in future.
According to the Afghan government, over 63% of Afghanistan’s population is under the age of 25. Unfortunately, as a nation that has been affected by decades of conflict and instability, the lack of motivation can hinder their potential contributions to the country’s development. Most of the Afghan youths are trying to reach their goals to serve Afghan community, but the challenges faced in their pathway, are obstacles in reaching their dreams.
As a representative of all Afghan youth striving to achieve their targets and serve Afghanistan, my story mirrors the challenges and determination present in the lives of many young Afghans. Despite the limitations and hardships, my family has always been supportive of my educational pursuits. I have grown up in a highly educated environment, which has instilled in me a deep curiosity for knowledge and a passion for learning.
After completing my secondary education at Abdul Hadi Dawi High School in Kabul in 2015, I took proactive steps to improve my English language skills, attending a 10-month course at Azeraksh Computer & English Academic Center. This experience not only enhanced my language abilities but also broadened my horizons, enabling me to interact and learn from individuals from diverse backgrounds.
In 2018, I enrolled in the Bachelor of Arts in Public Policy and Administration program at Balkh University in Mazar-I-Sharif, driven by my desire to contribute to positive change and development in Afghanistan. Throughout my academic journey, I consistently demonstrated a high level of academic performance, culminating in my graduation from the program in 2022.
Moreover, I actively participated in various programs and trainings that allowed me to expand my knowledge and skills in diverse fields. These included the Debate Theoretical and Practical Training organized by Afghan for Progressive Thinking (APT) and the training on the Role of Young Leadership in Rising Social Awareness, also organized by APT. These experiences enabled me to develop crucial critical thinking and leadership skills.
Furthermore, I engaged in a Research Training Program organized by Afghan Youth’s Empowerment and Change Organization (AYECO), which sharpened my research abilities and deepened my understanding of academic inquiry. Additionally, I attended the Youth Summit for Peace organized by Afghanistan Youth Leaders Assembly (AYLA), broadening my perspectives on peace-building and conflict resolution.
To ensure holistic development, I also participated in programs that focused on employability skills. The Employment Readiness and Soft Skills training program conducted by the Social and Educational Services Organization (SESO) equipped me with valuable job readiness skills. Furthermore, I undertook the DEL (Diploma in English Language) program at the Muslim English Language Institute and TOEFL IBT Test preparation at the English Learning and Computer Learning Center (ELCLC) of Balkh University to enhance my English language proficiency.
In addition to my academic and training pursuits, I have contributed to Afghan society by sharing my thoughts and ideas through my writings. I have published several political and social essays, addressing crucial issues faced by Afghanistan. These essays have shed light on topics such as the value of education and the restrictions on women in the current government. I have also offered recommendations for stabilizing Afghanistan’s new political system.
Furthermore, I have engaged in teaching activities to give back to my community. I authored a book titled “Basic Mathematics for Basic Classes,” which provides comprehensive exercises and instruction on fundamental arithmetic operations for beginner-level students.
Despite of struggle and potential movements for better future, It can be concluded not to remain the Afghan youths unmotivated. Therefore, it can be recommended some steps that can be helpful. Firstly, The Afghan government must prioritize increasing access to quality education for all segments of society, especially in rural and conflict-affected areas. Investment should be made in building more schools, and improving teacher training programs. Scholarships and vocational training programs should also be expanded to equip youth with the skills necessary for securing employment opportunities. Secondly, encouraging entrepreneurship and job creation is crucial for Afghan youth. The government should promote an enabling environment for youth-led initiatives, including offering financial incentives, mentorship programs, and access to affordable loans. Special consideration should be given to marginalized groups, such as women and those with disabilities, who face multiple barriers when it comes to employment and entrepreneurship. Thirdly, Empowering youth to participate in decision-making processes not only strengthens society but also fosters ownership and accountability. The government ought to improve the representation and involvement of youth in decision-making bodies, whether at the community, regional, or national levels. Youth-driven organizations should be supported and given a voice to address social issues and advocate for the rights and needs of the youth.
In conclusion, the key for development is to provide good education, job opportunities and gives opportunities in political and social involvement. and the Afghan government must pay attention to the needs and aspirations of Afghan youth. It is essential to provide them with ample opportunities to ensure their motivation and dedication towards building a better future for themselves and the nation. By nurturing and empowering Afghan youth, Afghanistan can harness their potential to drive the country’s development, peace, stability, development and bright for each Afghan citizen and next generations.
