A newly opened “Times Restaurant” in the Shahr-e-Now neighborhood of Kabul has brought and employed a robot waiter. The owner of the restaurant says “I have brought this robot to familiarize our people with modern technologies and also to solve the problem of unhappy conservative families who don’t like dealing with male waiters”.
My concern is, could we solve the problem of conservative families with a female waiter and do we really don’t know about the invention of robots in the world?
A study in December 2018 shows that Afghanistan has the highest unemployment rate in the world.
The social costs of unemployment are more than that of terrorist activities we are facing today. Unemployment and Terrorism both cause the loss of human resources. But, unemployment leads to even massive human misery, it affects individual lives and creating the problems such as poverty, loss of self-confidence, psychological damage, crimes, violence, breakup in families, weakening the state development and many more social pathologies.
Following developed countries in every market trend and economic policy is the main problem with poor countries, especially when they forget their culture, economic condition and society needs.
In the US they have sued parents for bad parenting. You can read articles on the cost benefits of children, how much money they have invested and how much they got back from them. For us, children are not the subject to cost benefits calculations, until now, but tomorrow somebody will start that too, because if the west is doing, then it must be good and let’s follow.
The concept of free markets and inappropriate government policies are the root causes of unemployment and so forth unnecessary market activities. Beside government intervention in the free market, individuals have their social responsibilities too.
What I mean by writing these lines is not to dampen the new ideas and marketing innovations, it is all about the market environment created by capitalism, the violation of society for our personal causes, and the forgetfulness of our social responsibilities.
