{"id":3792,"date":"2022-03-19T16:18:31","date_gmt":"2022-03-19T16:18:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/taand.com\/en\/?p=3792"},"modified":"2022-03-19T16:18:31","modified_gmt":"2022-03-19T16:18:31","slug":"cricket-sri-lanka-will-host-the-2022-asia-cup","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/taand.net\/en\/?p=3792","title":{"rendered":"Cricket Sri Lanka will host the 2022 Asia Cup"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 300;\">The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has announced that the 2022 Asia Cup will be held in Sri Lanka from August 27 to September 11.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The decision was taken at the annual meeting of the council today (Saturday).<br \/>\nThis time the Asia Cup will be held in 20 overs format and six teams will take part in it.<br \/>\nThe five permanent members of the ICC are Afghanistan, Pakistan, India, Bangladesh and host Sri Lanka.<br \/>\nThe sixth team will advance to the cup through the qualifying round, which starts on August 20.<br \/>\nThe Asia Cup qualifiers will be played between the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Singapore and Hong Kong.<br \/>\nThe last match of the Asia Cup was played in 2018 when India won.<br \/>\nThe 2022 Asia Cup, scheduled to take place in Sri Lanka, was postponed to 2021 due to the Corona epidemic and then to 2022.<br \/>\nPakistan, which was earlier scheduled to host the 2022 Asia Cup, has now secured the right to host the 2023 tournament.<br \/>\nThe Asian Cricket Council (ACC) Championship kicked off in Sharjah in 1984 and is the 15th edition of the series.<br \/>\nIndia have been the best in the Asia Cup so far and have won seven times.<br \/>\nSri Lanka, the host of the upcoming Asia Cup, has won the tournament five times.<\/p>\n<p>It was also decided at the annual meeting of the Cricket Council of Asia that &#8216;Ji Shah&#8217; will continue to lead the council till 2024.<br \/>\nHe is also the Chairman of the Board of Control for Cricket in India.<br \/>\nAt the meeting, Oman Cricket Board&#8217;s Pankaj Khemji was appointed as the Deputy Chairman of the Cricket Council of Asia and Mahinda Valipuram of the Malaysian Cricket Association as the Chairman of the Development Committee of the Council.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has announced that the 2022 Asia Cup will be held in Sri Lanka<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":6,"featured_media":3793,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[321,87],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-3792","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-sport","category-world"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.2 -
