The United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) says four women activists who were abducted a few weeks ago have been released.<\/p>\n
UNAMA wrote on its Twitter account on Sunday, February 13: “After a long period of uncertainty about the whereabouts and safety of four missing Afghan women activists and their relatives, they have been abandoned by the ruling Taliban.”<\/p>\n
UNAMA also called for the protection of the rights of every Afghan.<\/p>\n
Tamana Zaryab Paryani and Parwana Ibrahimkhel went missing from their homes in Kabul after protesting against “forced hijab”. Two other activists, Mursala Ayar and Zahra Mohammadi, were also detained in Kabul after the protests.<\/p>\n
The Taliban have so far been unaware of the whereabouts and whereabouts of the women. But UNAMA and human rights groups have repeatedly called on the Taliban to release the women.<\/p>\n
The Taliban’s actions have also been condemned on social media.<\/p>\n
UNAMA says the abandoned women have returned to their homes. The Taliban have not yet officially commented on the whereabouts of the detainees or how they were released.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
